One website called 2009 “the year of the celebrity death,” with Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Patrick Swayze passing away.
The mother-of-two won fans and fame with her forthright style on Big Brother in 2002, although her popularity sank five years later following racist comments about a Bollywood actress on the celebrity version of the show. Goody cashed in on her fame, selling an autobiography and perfume. She used the publicity surrounding her battle with cancer to earn as much money as possible for her sons and raise awareness of the risks of the disease.
