A 22-year-old man is charged with the attempted assassination of congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, in a shooting rampage that killed six people and wounded 14.

There are more tragic photos here of this tragic event, why didn't someone shoot HIM? Now he's in protective custody, where was the protection for the innocent?
