Do you think of your photographs as telling a story?

A story with photography

Do you ever think of your photos as telling a story, a story to share with just yourself, or with loved ones or with other people.

The first photo up here today suggests a story of a journey by road, presumably in a car, apart from snapping where you went, do you think of photos of how you went with whom you went and of yourself at that time and stage of your life, it's not just the journey, it's also the story.

A wedding is a story, it's the story of when you got married and should embrace all of the events of the day, not just the usual ones, after all it is YOUR story.

But prior to the wedding there was the story of a baby and a child, then a teenager and then later on a love story, of not just one but two people.

You have a very significant story already and there's stll the story of what is yet to come.

And what of your parents and their parents and the siblings, and the cousins and the uncles and the aunts, all have their very own stories to tell. How much easier it is with pictures.

You may like to travel, it's the story of your journey, but it's not just the places you see it's the people and their travels and journeys and life stories, of course you cannot photograph everything but you can introduce an extra element into your story, and for those who are camera shy, forget it, you'll look back with affection at yourself, who cares what anyone else thinks.

So now I'm going to leave you with a collection of photos, most unconnected and leave you to think about how much more you can achieve with your camera, be you master photographer or not.

Well, did this give you some ideas, remember good or bad photos all have their story to tell.

A bad photo is better than no photo at all, so get going with your camera and see what you can do and what stories you can tell.

I always wonder what everybody is thinking in crowd scenes.......and in building shots, all the people inside who dont even know they are in a photo, frozen in time

I love photographs with good stories to go with them. Especially those that are moving. I can stare at them all day!

Yes...I see photographs as telling a story/stories. I too try to *compose* it as much as I can. Fab photographs you've shared, katyzzz.

It takes skill to compose a photograph such that it tells a story. It's quite difficult!

Wow, that old woman's face tells a story alright... I'd love to sketch it.

I got lost in those lines of experience and hardship and only found the open eye last... aster a long long journey through the furrows.

She has seen many sunrises and sunsets and couldprobably fill ten books with stories.

Composition is so difficult with human subjects!
