Space shuttle Atlantis lifts off in NASA's final flight of the year, carrying spare parts to keep the International Space Station flying after the shuttles are retired in 2010.


This photo is superb, that's why I chose it.



The Japanese Kibo complex of the International Space Station is seen with the earth in the background in this image taken by an STS-129 crew member while Space Shuttle Atlantis remains docked with the station in this photo released by NASA and taken November 19, 2009.
