Protect Your Grand Piano
The hostess of a San Francisco cocktail party set up a punchbowl on a grand piano. The punch got dumped into the piano, which cost $10,000 to clean and repair. The loss was covered under a collections rider, with no deductible, says Randy Schneider, an agent with Fort Point Insurance Services. Moral: If you're particular about a certain thing--a painting, a collection of yo-yos, a piano--insure it with a valuables or collections rider to your homeowner's policy. Also, don't put the punch bowl on the piano
