Prayers at Joseph's Tomb

On Sunday night, Israeli troops escorted more than 1,600 Jewish worshippers to Joseph's Tomb in the West Bank in coordination with the Palestinian forces that control Nablus.
A Jewish worshipper waits at an Israeli army checkpoint on the outskirts of the West Bank city of Nablus, late May 29, 2011, before entering the city to pray in Joseph's Tomb. On Sunday night, Israeli troops escorted more than 1,600 Jewish worshippers to the tomb in coordination with the Palestinian forces that control Nablus. It was a first coordinated visit to the site by Jewish worshippers since a Palestinian policeman shot dead an Israeli and wounded four others when they entered the tomb without permission on April 24. Some Jews believe the site to be the burial place of the biblical patriarch Joseph.
