Photographing stones and surfaces - plus some special images. (LINK)

One thing you will definitely need to learn about photography is the art of observation, open those eyes and SEE, the more you see the more you'll observe and the more prepared you'll be for capturing that special shot.
The light needs to be good and you'll need a camera with preferably a glass lens, not plastic.
But for starters, any camera will DO. We all have to start somewhere and you'll be more prepared to know what you want in your next purchase.
Stone carries its own textures, colours and patterns and it is these things of which you must always be aware.
You will not always find stones set up for you like these ones but you will find stones in pools and water and depending where you are you have the opportunity of finding them and photographing them. I found some wonderful ones in Tasmania.
Just look at the amazing patterns in this mud and how it brings itself together to form them reflecting light in different ways.
The beach is a favourite haunt of mine when looking for things to photograph, the sand, the sea, the rocks, the surrounding areas, all offer good opportunities.
The surface below is of the sea, it may have been its natural colour or a filter may have been used.
Old roads have been constructed in different ways, many by hand, from bricks made by hand. You'll see that here in the next two images. They are interesting aren't they? Each different in its own way from the other and it is these differences that you need to observe.
And now for the special images, you will learn much from them, it is a remarkable set of photos from around the world. I've put the link at the top, next to the title.
And always remember, happy snapping.
