Cultural diversity - features to create themes.
December 12th 2007 03:27
I remember, a few years ago when, in response to a specific commission, I had to do a lot of outdoors photography, I came across a group in a park, from an Indian background, which added great interest and colour to my photograph, which was in three levels, I managed to get that group into the top 1/3rd where the men and women in their saris seemed especially posed for me.
The second 1/3rd I managed to capture a boy playing with his ball and nothing much else and the bottom 1/3rd showed some outline of the park. It was an exceptionally good and fortuitous photo and I had a fast camera set to automatically allow for appropriate focus, lighting etc but many good photos are captured by chance, a good eye for composition and speed of execution of the photographer.
There are many festivals run by different organizations that cater to cultural diversity and if you want to collect some great images, go there, but don't ever forget that most professional photographers abandon most of their images, don't be disappointed if you don't always get what you'd like, just go with a will to learn and the spirit of enlightenment.
I've given you a collection of photos of different cultures, some of which are not particularly good photos but they were the best I could come up with given the time constraints associated with blogging.
For those interested in Photoshop skills, I've embedded this video for you, it is very brief and promotional, but I think it might be just what some people are wanting.

Those look amazing and I hope that one day I can be as good as you.
I haven't been able to take pictures lately with my limited old camera but if I get a chance I'll do that again!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Have a blessed day

Are your a photographer by trade? My father worked as a sports writer/photographer in the 60s and he had a dark room in a room at the back of our house. Many happy memories. I enjoy this blog a lot. Thanks

It filled a particular need in my life at a particular time, not personal, rather more complex but at that time I did a lot of writing, poetry, photography, computer art, and private medical research with some startling results and coped with a substantial medical problem myself at that time and the consequences.
Since my very conservative beginning and pattern of my life for a long time my life has been an extraordinary saga but I made history in a number of unrelated areas, you think I'd be famous but recognition is hard to come by, especially when you cut through the so called skills of others, that's the closest you'll ever get to finding out much about me. Take a bow.
