The functions of geometic shapes and lines adding symmetry to photos.

The photo I have chosen to-day to represent this wonderful selection is different from most photos that you see and I'm going to tell you why.
There are quite a few others which I could have chosen but this one has a different kind of appeal.
Of course to state the obvious it shows a goalie and three others of his team in defence against just one member of the other team but that is coincidental to the features of the shot.
This is a very geometrical photo, the setting on the white with such few colours featured allows the mind to focus on the shapes and lines.
First notice the rectangle on the floor of the goal section with its circular top, the accents being in pale blue, now notice the shapes created by the hockey sticks of the players almost a zig zag, and two in parallel lines, the ice is a perfect foil.
Now notice the rectangle of the goal post and the straight line images on the wall behind, the purity of the white is a perfect foil for the colours of the uniforms of the players and the almost black and white colours of the sticks and their flat ends.
It is a photo that is so clear and clean that the meaning is not lost in detail and the small details there provided by the lines keep the eyes focused and aware of the features of the game.
You'll find other good images there but I chose this because of the simplicity of lines highlighting the action of the players.
