Wedding Photography - always remember it's HER DAY!
January 2nd 2008 22:41
This is the Bride's chance to be beautiful. They've spent a lot of money on that dress, feature it.
They'll want photos of the Bride arriving and departing with her BRAND NEW husband.
Where are the photos of the cars, the bridesmaid's, unexpected features of the dress, the flowers, the bidesmaids and the wee tot attendants if there are any.
Don't forget the best man and the Bride's family and the Groom's family and both families together.
Those flowers cost a fortune, capture them.
Where's the Church?, feature it.
And THE BRIDE and the BRIDE and the BRIDE and HER DRESS and her flowers and the rings and the cars and DAD giving her away.
Take your time with that dress, but not too much time, there's not much time and very soon HER DAY will be over.
Put a lot of thought into what you plan to do and know your camera well.
Make sure the lighting is good and you understand it. You do not want a lovely photo of the bride with a shadow across the face.
So much to do, and the reception and all those relatives and friends and how about the gifts.
Everything you think of will bring you acclaim from the families.
Rest assured they'll probably have a professional photographer too but you never know maybe one day it will be YOU.
And enjoy yourself, for whatever else, it is your day too.
And I feel quite sure there will be more posts on weddings, there is still so much left to do.

One biff I had with my wedding photography and the one thing I stipulated right from the beginning was that there should be a photo of both our immediate families and us together. Not only did my photographers do this but they also didn't even take pics of immediate family groups. Still really pissed about that.

I actually was thinking the same thing. I really don't understand the big fuss bride's make over weddings - "it's the biggest day of my life" etc., but I respect that they feel that way even if I don't. I agree it should be both people's day, but I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I don't agree that it is her day and it's not because I am a girl - i guess it depends if bridezilla is running the show or not.
In any case - I do like the tips.
Thanks

I hear of weddings where disposable camera`s are put at each table and the guests do the picture taking. That sounds good to me!

When I was in college, I was a photographer's assistant. I worked many weddings and James is SO RIGHT!
