A beautiful face, a big mouth, and a lone llama

October 24th 2007 23:21
A beautiful face
A beautiful face

This first image is art photography, it is so simple but so beautiful and its very simplicity with just an arrangement of the hair speaks volumes. I think this is a photograph everyone can appreciate and it is not really necessary to say much about it. The black and white presentation emphasises this very simplicity.

By contrast the second image draws very heavily on the effects of colour and an animal's use of defence and draws attention to Man the Predator as this valiant little creature with its big mouth, threatening to some, vainly tries to protect itself. It is threatened by man in two ways, for the natural beauty of its skin and by its reduced habitat, both factors clearly identifying Man as the threatening creature not nature, of itself.

Once again the eccentric position has been used and the photographer has shot at an angle that emphasises the large head and especially large mouth, while at the same time allowing us to note and enjoy the colours of the lizard's skin.

And the last image I have managed to download for you. It is a particularly good illustration of the rule of 3rds. The tray of the truck lines drawn to side, the roof, lines drawn to side, and the uppermost 1/3 the dark mountains and blue sky. Great photography. One truck, one llama, one barren landscape.

I think the barrenness and starkness speaks for itself, it's meaning screams at you.

Here's what National Geographic has to say.

A nervous llama lies in the back of a pickup truck amid the moonscape of Chile's Atacama Desert. Atacama's barren high plateaus are home to the Aymara people, who raise llamas for their meat and wool.

Louie, it is real, the beauty of nature.

Lilla, funny about the Toyota, looks like a bit of a bomb 'tho. Don't think I'd like to go out in the desert in it. Maybe this is the one Louie meant. I think she missed the CNN one.

That was funny. The llama seems to be taking it all in its stride, not much choice I suppose.

Unless lone llama's tied down or dead, he'd be out of there in a millisecond.

Maybe he thinks it's just wool this trip, not meat. Or maybe he just likes riding in the ute (but I doubt it).
