Wait for people to walk into your scene as it helps bring the location to life.
Time their position in the frame so that they complement the composition without obstructing important architectural features.

Make several attempts to capture people passing through the scene, as here in Blakeney, Norfolk, to catch a little telling gesture.
Another kind of timing is the time of day . The light on the building varies throughout the day, so choose the time which gives the most interesting or dramatic effects.
