Eric Moussambani, or Eric the Eel, from Equatorial Guinea poses on top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Sydney September 21, 2000. Eric, who has never seen a full-size pool before arriving in Sydney, became an instant overnight celebrity for swimming very, very slowly. He had trouble completing the 100 meters but he refused to give up, turning himself into one of the favourites of the Games.
