I dunno Katyzzz... as much as it does 'feel' sad I would like to know why they have monkey marriages and how they otherwise treat their monkeys normally. By the look of the owner's face (of the first monkey, not the one found just chained to a tree) it looks like he does love and take care of this monkey (enough to share a ciggie... weird by our standards, but perhaps not so much in India?)
I mean, we put our dogs on leashes... the photo captions didn't really explain much besides the fact that a monkey marriage was happening and somehow the authorities wants to stop it....

It's because in their culture the monkey is considered sacred. I just wish they'd allow animals to be animals and we only put our dogs on leads to protect others and keep them from running away or even getting run over.

Sad about the monkey in chains.

The title monkey marriage does tend to be a bit confusing and conjures up some horrible thoughts.

Nice to have your opinions on this.
