Keeping kids safe on Facebook

Engage With Your Kids
As in many growing experiences, kids can benefit from the participation and wisdom of parents. Says Mandeep Dhillon, CEO of Togetherville, "I love taking my kids to New York City, but I wouldn't take them there and walk away--it's the same on the Internet." If your kids are on a COPPA-compliant site, don't just hand them your email address and password to use, but do actually engage with and shape their social network experience. If your kids are already (legally) on Facebook, become "friends" with them online. Offline, talk to them about the proper usage, and warn them of the dangers of sharing information or other media online.
