JPEG or GIF - which is better when it comes to storing digital photographs?

Today thought of analyzing the differences between the terms ‘JPEG’ - (Joint Photographic Experts Group) & ‘GIF’- (Grahpics Interchange Format). These terms tend to confuse some of us, especially when we try to store our digital pictures on a digital medium – such as flash memory, disk, CDs, etc.
If your concern is on quality – in terms of colour and image projection it’s better that you store them as ‘JPEG’. It also helps save on storage space! Generally to maintain a digital photo album it’s an ideal format.

GIF is rather popular with net usage. It stores about 8bits/ pixel – which means you have fewer choice of colours, resulting on an average quality picture.
As seen in picture B: (“Stroll-B.GIF”)
These pictures ‘sit’ ideally on a low-resolution computers and other similar digital products. Hence it’s better off with black & white pictures
If you like to get more information on it you could visit the following site. It discusses the concept of the terms in detail. Give it a go!
JPEG or GIF? You decide =)
