Dressing of a Geisha

Komomo, a geiko (geisha), looks at herself in the mirror at home while a dresser, known as "Kichi", helps her get ready to go to evening appointments in the Miyagawa district of Kyoto, Japan April 11, 2008. "It's a bit like a war," says Komomo, a geisha in Japan's ancient capital, describing how she dresses for work.

Agree Gaye... and Katyzzz - yes it sometimes does make you think if they are just putting it up for 'show' but having studies a little about Japanese history, I know that Geishas are in fact really important 'people' in society and politics. Instead of being prostitutes as the westerns often think, they are powerful in using their beauty to manipulate and even assassin people!

Very interesting input Amy, they certainly know how to manipulate men if you ask me. It's a long tradition, but I think there is yet another side to it too.
