Stolen girl, captive for 18 years - photos

September 1st 2009 18:56
stolen girl squalid conditions

Police investigators work near a shed next door to the home of Phillip Garrido in Antioch, California, August 31, 2009. Garrido and his wife, Nancy, have been charged in the 1991 kidnapping of Jaycee Dugard, who was 11 years old at the time. Authorities believe that the now 29-year-old Dugard spent most of the past two decades living in squalid tents and sheds in Garrido's backyard. Police have expanded their investigation to include the neighboring property.

That man is obviously a monster, Katyzzz. I'm sympathy with the victim, Jaycee Dugard and her two innocent daughters!

Sam, this is and was an awful situation, and the fact that he had a previous very serious record and had several visits from police and complaints made by people and still he got away with the kidnap and rape of an 11 year old, what an appalling person, if he can't help it he should have been locked up and kept that way instead of allowing him out to reap his havoc on yet another innocent victim and her conditions were so squalid.

There is something grossly deficient in Society when we care so little for protecting our innocent children.

Yes, Wilson, this really is a truly disgusting state of affairs, thank God she is now free, but what of her children who were raised as sisters and children of the man and his wife.

Under such circumstances she probably does not even want to know them.

Let's hope she has a happy life from now on.

What a sicko! I can't even imagine what that poor girl/woman must have endured, and all that she will go through for the rest of her life. Thank God she is safe now.

Yes, Kristin, such a tragedy and how badly she was let down by the authorities.
