Images composed with mirror symmetry, where one side reflects the other, are often visually striking.
Many modern buildings make extensive use of reflections to create form and to relate to neighbouring architecture, explore the possibilities offered by the architect.
The reflection is usually much darker than the view being reflected, so the challenge is to balance the exposure between the two. Aim to avoid over-exposure of the main scene.
In this image of a former linen mill in Ireland, the large windows allow us to feature the building and the access road, giving a sense of abandonment.
