That's a spectacular photo and is part of many others which really get the message across as to how a primitive culture copes with poverty, despair and a lack of a proper water supply, a commodity which so many of us take for granted, the old, the young, the disabled all must get water to survive as they see their livelihoods disintegrate. Just look at the women tilling dry, barren earth to plant a crop, how can they do anything there? And many of them must carry water over long distances. It's a rude shock and we should do everything in our power to ensure that we, too, do not ever end up this way. The link at the top provides the pictures and tells the story as well as producing some great photography.
Let's hope it does some good and these people receive help for their sad plight, especially from the greedy, not the needy, who have profited, often illicitly, from the expansion of the Chinese economy.
