August 4th 2011 20:41
The legal age for marriage in India is 18, but weddings like 13-year-old Kishan Gopal and 11-year-old wife Krishna are common, especially in poor, rural areas where girls in particular are married off young.
Child bride Krishna, 12, plays on an improvised swing outside her house in a village near Baran, located in the northwestern state of Rajasthan, July 30 , 2011.
