A selection of cameras

Panasonic's DMC-L10, has a good ergonomic design.
It includes a Live View mode, so you can frame photos on the LCD instead of peering through the optical viewfinder. For this it has autofocus when framing on the LCD.
A rotating LCD on an SLR is unexpected but this has it.
The L10 is geared toward entry-level SLR users so it includes some features more commonly associated with compact cameras.
For example, pressing the Display button when in various modes brings up an explanation of what different options will do. A Face Detection mode, something not normally found in SLRs, can find up to 15 faces and use them to set focus and exposure.
The camera's Intelligent ISO Control uses subject movement to automatically set the ISO, while nine Film Modes let you mimic the look of analog film or create your own custom look.
If you choose Portrait mode, you can specify whether you are indoors or outdoors, so the camera can adjust accordingly. You can use the Advanced Scene as a learning tool.
So this really is a step up the ladder for amateur photographers moving onto the next level of photography.
Their needs appear to have been met by the manufacturer. It's lens (Leica) is supposed to be comparable with other good lenses but it does not seem top of the range but a serious step forward for the amateur.
$1,300 for the kit. Although this seems expensive for a dSLR it does not seem expensive as purchasing separate units.
If you're planning on great things in photography this is not for you but if you wish just to move forward this seems a good option.
I was intending to do the other options but I think one camera at a time is enough.
I'll do the others progressively.
This is the Lumix camera shown in the picture.
