Canon's fine HV20 video camcorder.

If AVCHD is too top-edge for you, go for Canon's HV20 ($800; canondv.com), which records high-def footage onto trusty, cheap MiniDV cassettes. [recommended by Twin Cities.com] Capture family memories in high definition with Canon's fine HV20 video camcorder.

From coolest gadgets.com, is the recommendation for the new The Samsung FlipShot from Verizon. Rumour has it that the mobile phone market will overtake the ordinary camera market with improvements to its camera capabilities.

Samsung’s Flipshot may prove that the cell phone camera maybe as good as a real camera.

The Samung Flipshot is offered from Verizon, and it has 3 megapixels of camera and camcorder action. As you can see, the display is a nice rotating display for some serious action. The display itself is a 240 x 320 260k color TFT.

Other features include a business card reader, digital zoom, living wallpaper, V CAST capable, speakerphone, messaging services, VZ Navigator, as well as a personal organizer with calendar, calculator, notepad, alarm clock and world clock. It also has Bluetooth capability for headsets, car kits and other compatible devices.

Kidizoom is yet another digital camera for kids that will probably keep their hands off of your own camera, at least until the novelty of the toy wears off, and with Kidizoom’s many interesting features, the novelty might last longer than expected.

Besides the obvious picture-taking capability, the camera can also capture videos and has an on screen editor that allows for instant “photoshopping” of the taken pictures. Once the kids get tired of playing photographer the camera can be used to play some built-in games like tic-tac-toe and a memory and sliding square puzzle game that use the stored pictures. Finally, the camera has 16MB of internal memory but provides also an SD card slot for additional memory; interchangeable faceplates and a connector cable to hook Kidizoom up to the computer or the TV are also provided in the package.

VTech Kidizoom digital camera is available at Amazon for $49.99.
