Macro photography

Firstly, What is Macro photography?
Macro photography is close-up photography. The image is close to the size of the subject.
This generally means the image is 1/2 the size of the object. But images the same size can also be achieved.
In recent times the term has been extended to include an image of life size or larger, this is an easier lens for manufacturers to achieve.
Usually a macro lens is required with a long barrel for close focussing.
If this is the type of photography you are interested in or if you want to extend the range of what you are photographing these are facts you need to know.
Have a look at the images to see what effects you are likely to be able to achieve.
I do hope you find this useful. It may explain some of the frustrations you feel with the limitations of your own camera.
