amazon pollution environment mining pictures

Gravel mined from the bank of the Tocantins Rivers lies ready to be shipped by barge and truck to fill the needs for a beginning construction boom, on the outskirts of Maraba just south of the Amazon River March 30, 2010. An important construction boom is expected to begin in the northeastern corner of Brazil since a major miners' union confirmed the investment of up to $40 billion in the next four years by steel and mining companies to produce more steel for the global market.
