Escalating violence in Afghanistan threatens to overshadow the coming election.

Election workers adjust their burqas as they prepare to leave an election facility in Faizabad in the northeastern province of Badakhshan August 15, 2009. Afghanistan will hold presidential and provincial elections on August 20, the second since the Taliban were overthrown in 2001, amid mounting attacks from the insurgents.

I went to a seminar a few years ago, in regards to the situation in Afghanistan. The professor theory that although the idea of peace, freedom and liberty is what all Afghan want, a full democratic goverment system might not be the best for Afghan to achieve such result, under the nation's current circumstances.

It is believe that it would actually be better for Afghanistan to bring back the king, for the time been. Although, the king believe the days of the king should be over for Afghanistan.

However, personally, a constiutional monarchy goverment system might still work better for Afganistan's current situation, but unlike the European constitutional monarchy, the King should not be in absolute power, but should follow middle east's tradition with the King as a mere position within the federal goverment. (Or at least that is what that lecturer say Middle East's kingship tradition.)

thanks a lot for that, Peter, it was very interesting, unfortunately Afghanistan is such a volatile area and such a hideout for the Taliban, it is a strategic spot in International politics, I'm concerned a lot for the rights of women, they don't have a lot, there, but better than when they were uncer the Taliban.

Well, a lot of middle eastern countries still live in the eighteen century when it come to women right, even advance countries like, Saldi Arabia and Turkish.

But personally, I won't be too worry about that every culture in the world use to be like that a few hundred years ago, the only thing is that we have evlove beyond that already. As long as they don't live under Taliban rule it will be ok, although I do have to say if I am a woman, I won't want to live there, so I know what you are talking about.
